Thing Magazine was a independent publication on Black Queer Life, Art, and culture founded in 1989. Operating in Chicago until 1993, Thing featured interviews, art, drag culture, poetry, columns, and HIV/AIDS activism. Thing was independently published by a small team out of Robert Ford’s apartment in Chicago and was distributed worldwide! Here, Jazzmun the Living Barbie is featured on the cover of the Summer 1993 Issue.
